In the hinderland of Epidavroswere two most important healing centersin the intire Greek and Roman world. The sanctuary dedicated to Apollo Maleatas, a god with healing proprerties, which has founded around 800 B.C., and the Asclepieion, the seat of antiquity's physician god whose worship was established in the 6th c. B.C. The most important monuments belonging to the 4th and 3rd c. B.C. In the sanctuary in the plain are the temple of Asclepius, the Abaton, the Tholos and the theater, the restaurant, the katagogion or hostel and the stadium.
